Policies

The Commission hopes to formulate and publish its policies with regard to certain human rights issues. To this end, the Commission has identified certain areas of concern wherein to formulate a policy. The Commission has formulated and published its Child Rights Policy, based largely on the Convention on the Rights of the Child which Fiji has ratified.

The Commission launched its Child Rights Policy on 10 December 1999, World Human Rights Day on the occasion of the announcement of the winners of its Childrens Painting Competition at the Fale, Forum Secretariat, Suva. The Childrens Painting Competition was the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the the Convention on the Rights of the Child on 20 November 1999.
